Review - Mudgee 2022 Seminar

Mudgee 2022It was great to experience a face-to-face seminar once again at the AIMS Mudgee Seminar in 2022.

Mudgee 2022For the 2022 Mudgee Regional AIMS seminar we finally made the move to Friday. It was a great turnout, and the Parklands Resort was again the perfect venue. Keeping a similar format to previous seminars, it was great to see 80-odd delegates attend.

Thursday night (17th March) kicked off with a night of socialising and catching up at a new venue, Three Tails Brewery and Smokehouse. This was a fantastic start with people mingling, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, setting the scene for the presentations to follow on Friday.

Attendees enjoyed the chance to sample the wonderful Mudgee beer and cider from local companies with some amazing American style smoked meats!

Friday morning, we were back into it. Our only paper presentation was from Zac Burley on GeoSlam surveying at Tahmoor and the re-establishment of the mine baseline and transferring it to the underground workings. Zac covered the full process of using the GeoSlam fieldwork, processing and trialling it in different situations and environments. Zac went on to explain the process of re-establishing the mine baseline (re-establishment due to subsidence) and the traversing required to setup the Tahmoor south workings.

We then moved straight onto a National Conference update from Peter Sergeant and Duncan McDougal, where we viewed the “About Bloody Time” advertising campaign for the AIMS 2022 National Conference. Please remember that Peter and Duncan are still on the lookout for a couple of papers so if you have been working on something on your mine site and would like to share it, please get in touch with either Peter or Duncan. There is still time.

After morning tea, we met with our sponsors, where we changed it up a bit and had the sponsors do short 20 min presentations to the group instead of moving around. This seemed to work well as the sponsors got the whole audience to themselves and it also gave the delegates time to visit the sponsors one-on-one to get any specific information they were after. We enjoyed presentations from AAM, Aerometrex, Carlson, CR Kennedy and Maptek before lunch, then after the lunch break, we had presentations from Outline Global, Position Partners and UPG.

The day was rounded off by a closing presentation, updating us on CPD changes from Alan Mellor and a BOSSI and an AIMS update from Michael Price.

With lots of things on offer in Mudgee there is no doubt that many people will be looking forward to returning next year for another great seminar!

Thanks to the seminar coordinator Matt Brown and the team from Conference Images for another very successful AIMS event!
