The AIMS Kalgoorlie regional event for 2019 was held on the 25th of September 2019, returning again to the Hannans club where we had a strong turnout of over 25 attendees comprising of local and regional Mine Surveyors, as well as key industry partners and sponsors.
It was particularly pleasing to see a strong contingent of graduate and junior surveyors in attendance. These 'up and comers' are the future of our profession and its great to see them starting to get involved with AIMS.
The event commenced with an update on the proposed changes to the regulations in WA from AIMS Vice-President Shane Watson. This informative presentation generated some excellent discussion points and the event provided an excellent opportunity for surveyors to collaborate. This was followed by some quality demonstrations and presentations from our sponsors for the evening.
To round the technical discussions out, Shane Watson took the stand again to present Renny Leo with the AIMS Mine Surveyor of the Year award. A humble, but well deserved recipient, Renny utilised his footy club experience to deliver his acceptance speech. Congratulations again Renny.
This then segued into the networking portion of the event, where 'war stories' were swapped over food and refreshing drinks.
Thank you to all of our attendees, sponsors and supporters for the support for AIMS Kalgoorlie 2019. It was a successful event and we look forward to catching up again next year.
